Environmental Conservation Information
Here is our Environmental Policy
Purpose: The Lakeshore Inn Bed & Breakfast is committed to:
-
Reducing the amount of waste deposited into our landfills
-
Recycling as much as possible
-
Reusing non-recyclables as dictated by common sense, sanitary conditions, and the ability of a material to be reused
-
Buy products made from recycled materials as much as possible
The comfort of our guests is of the utmost importance and can easily be maintained by following the guidelines mentioned above. Conservation of our natural resources is very important and Maine is a national leader in this effort. We, at The Lakeshore Inn, ask our guests to be good stewards of their environment and to assist us in following the guidelines mentioned above.
Our procedure: The Lakeshore Inn has a dedicated recycling holding center. The owners will remove items from our guest’s rooms daily, as stated in our Environmental Conservation Information, and these items will be placed in holding containers in the holding center. Once full, these containers will be taken out for proper disposal. Each room will have a list of those items that we can recycle and where these items can be placed in their rooms for pick up. There is also a statement in each room that describes how we process the linens.

Dear valued guests,
In an effort to help us in our commitment to resource conservation we are providing you with a list of items that we can recycle and where to place them in your room for pick up. We also provide you with our procedure for processing your linens. Thank you for helping us in our efforts to conserve our natural resources.
Recyclables:
- Beverage containers: All empty containers will be removed from your rooms daily. Please leave the containers on a counter, do not place them in the waste basket. There is also a recycling bin in the guest kitchen for containers.
- Newspapers: When you are through with your newspaper you may leave it on the floor next to the waste basket.
- Cardboard: Please leave on the floor next to the waste basket.
- Number 2 plastic: Please leave on the floor next to the waste basket.
- All unwrapped bars of soap will be discarded upon guest check out.
- Any open bottles of lotion, shampoo and conditioners are collected and donated to one of the area shelters. Please do not throw these items in the trash.
Linens:
- Please see the information card in your bathroom for our procedure of changing out your towels.
- All bed linens will be changed when a guest checks out OR every third day for longer stays.
- To increase or decrease the above mentioned linen procedures please alert the owners on how you prefer these items to be handled.
